Wendy's work reflects her concerns about the stresses and fragilities of twenty first century life. Her current paintings are layered. Multicoloured surfaces overlaid with repetitive patterns, symbolic images and calligraphic marks. Lino prints suggest thread-like figures unravelling. Sculptures juxtapose toy soldiers against feminine forms.
Influenced by 15 years spent overseas as a midwife in the Middle East, and giving birth to her own son, Byron, in France, Wendy takes her viewers on a sojourn from the relative ease of Australia into a more challenging environment.
